Shift 2: Unleashed to Continue Need for Speed Franchise

The Need for Speed franchise speeds on next spring in Shift 2: Unleashed, EA’s latest entry in the ongoing racing simulator franchise.

The first “Shift” branded game was released in September 2009 and went on to sell through almost 5 million copies on Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC according to EA’s internal sales numbers. The gaming climate has changed since now and then with the introduction of Xbox 360’s Kinect and Playstation 3’s Move, though neither motion-control accessory will be compatible with Shift 2 (at least out of the box). Develop duties go to the original Shift’s team at Slightly Mad Studios.

Shift 2: Unleashed naturally amps up the visceral presentation from its predecessor, but does so though a new helmet camera view. The only new mode identified thus far is Driver’s Battle described by EA via the unsubstantive description “[offering a] more authentic and primal feeling of power and speed.”
