The second trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon with Taylor Lautner interview snippets arrived in theaters on Friday but not before a fuzzy bootleg was leaked from France a couple days earlier.
Summit Entertainment had attached the trailer exclusively to Bandslam starring Vanessa Hudgens in hopes of boosting its audience. Whether due to the French leak or Vanessa not having anywhere near the star power pull her boyfriend Zac Efron has demonstrated, Bandslam was a missed slam at the box office with an abysmal $2.25 million opening.
Summit had valiantly attempted to remove the French trailer when it first began to spread across the Internet but those efforts clearly had little effect on Bandslam. More importantly for Summit is ensuring the film’s European opening two days earlier than North America does not result in an illegal copy finding its way online.
Perhaps in light of Bandslam’s opening, Summit has not bothered pulling the North American bootlegs of the second New Moon trailer so I picked one of respectable quality to share below. I’ll pass along the official high definition version as soon as Summit releases it online.
