Sean Bean may have recently wrapped up one regal role but he’s close to landing another. This one is something right out of a fairytale.
Per multiple trade sources, Bean has entered final negotiations to board Relativity’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White film as Snow White’s father. He would join a cast that already includes Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as her prince, and Julia Roberts as the evil queen. Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Fall) is directing.
Sean Bean was heavily featured in the first season of HBO’s Game of Thrones as Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell. He is not expected to appear in the second season unless flashback scenes are filmed, which helped opened the door for the venerable actor to tackle new projects.
The Brothers Grimm: Snow White is one of two adult-themed projects based on the classic fairytale. The other is Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman which stars Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. That film is due in theaters on June 1, 2012 while Relativity’s Snow White has been repositioned to an earlier March 16, 2012 release date.
Production is already underway on The Brothers Grimm: Snow White in Montreal where Sean Bean will likely join his fellow cast in the coming days or weeks.
