Scribblenauts went “Unlimited” in its last outing on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U by allowing players to custom create any object, person, etc. to place in the game. That’s a tough feature to top, but developer 5th Cell may have pulled it off anyway.
According to a report at IGN, multiple sources are telling them that 5th Cell is tapping into the DC Universe for the next Scribblenauts adventure and the entire game will focus on the DC license. It was at one point called Scribblenauts Unmasked though the name may change.
The sources claim that the game will be announced for Wii U, 3DS and the PC at E3 in June. That would follow the pattern of Scribblenauts Unlimited and time nicely with the arrival of Warner’s Man of Steel film that flies into theaters roughly a week after 3D wraps.
Whoever the sources are have seen the game in action and provided some descriptions of levels and characters that will be present. One level is set beneath Wayne Manor where Killer Croc is blocking Max (the game’s protagonist; Scribblenauts vets know him well) from progressing. Max will have to figure out how to get Killer Croc to move.
Another level has Max encountering a pair of police officers with a catch. One is legit and the other is Clayface. It will be up the player to figure out which is which, with one idea being an X-ray, then determine a way to capture a giant pile of mud.
Other characters seen by the sources include Robin, The Joker, Batgirl, Aquaman, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze and Black Manta. You can probably draw conclusions about other obvious characters that will also appear.
Look for our thoughts on Scribblenauts Unmasked after we check out the game at E3 in June.
