This morning we discovered that Sam Raimi’s (Spider-Man) feature length debut Evil Dead starring Bruce Campbell is coming to Blu-ray thanks to a new pre-order listing at Amazon.com.
Evil Dead debuted theatrically in 1981 and has subsequently been released numerous times on DVD by Anchor Bay. The Blu-ray edition will probably carry forth most if not all of the bonus features from those former versions, but it’s too early to know for certain.
The Evil Dead Trilogy on Blu-ray which also includes Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness will now be complete on Blu-ray. Don’t expect to see a box set with all three anytime soon. While Starz/Anchor Bay holds the distribution rights to Evil Dead and Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness is published by Universal.
