Some comic book purists were upset when Ryan Reynolds was cast to play The Green Lantern earlier this month. Their grievance was not directed at Reynolds looks or skills. The problem was on the actor’s resume.
By accepting the Green Lantern role, Reynolds has now become the face of two superheroes after already portraying Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and again in an upcoming spin-off. Fans don’t want him to be the face of two unique characters, much less whose films are both due for release in 2011. But Reynolds sees no issues whatsoever in taking on both roles.
“There’s no rule that says you can’t play two different characters in two different comic book universes,” Reynolds told Entertainment Weekly. “There’s so many interesting comic book characters out there, I would love to do others.”
For now, two superheroes is plenty for Reynolds to tackle. Do you all think he can successfully pull off Deadpool and The Green Lantern?
