The Avengers is still months off from beginning photography and already Iron Man 3 rumors are starting to pop up.
According to UK’s Daily Mail (a borderline gossip publication), an “inside source” has informed them that Marvel is keen on the idea of Emily Blunt portraying the main villain in Iron Man 3. The source was quoted as saying, “‘They [Marvel] are desperate to have Emily as the villain in the next Iron Man film.”
I like the idea of Tony Stark/Iron Man having to square off against a woman antagonist. Stark has already shown a soft spot for attractive women and could be caught off guard by one with deadly intentions. The direction would be a natural evolution for the character and fitting final solo assignment for the armored Avenger in closing his three-film arc.
The earliest we’re likely to see Iron Man 3 on the big screen is the summer of 2013 so toss this rumor on the shelf for now and keep your eyes on The Avengers prize.
