Namco Bandai has announced Ridge Racer Unbounded will cruise into stores for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC on March 6, 2012.
“Unbounded” refers to the full vehicular and environmental destruction that has been built into the classic Ridge Racer arcade driving engine. Taking the concept of environmental destruction further, the game allows players to create their own cities that can be simultaneously raced and destroyed offline or online with friends.
There’s a story to Ridge Racer Unbounded, of course, that has you trying to impress Kara Shindo, leader of the Unbounded gang, by building up street cred. Challenges faced during the single-player campaign will include survival racing, domination (re: destroy the environment) racing, and other modes focusing on duels, drifting and simply wiping other cars out of existence.
