Ricky Gervais is set to make a brief cameo appearance in an upcoming episode of the U.S. version of ‘The Office’ on NBC.
His cameo will take place on the January 27 episode and see Gervais returning to the role of David Brent, his character on the U.K. version of ‘The Office’ which he co-created a ran a short two seasons. Gervais will share the scene with Steve Carell as Michael Scott outside of Dunder Mifflin in both a nod to the two shows finally connecting and as a tribute to Carell’s final episodes.
The scene was shot way back in September when Gervais was near the production for the Emmys. It was supposed to be kept under wraps but Vulture got the go-ahead from show-runner Paul Lieberstein to spill the beans.
This news should deflect some of the negativity surrounding Gervais and the Golden Globes, a now in-the-past partnership which didn’t turn out to be so golden in its second year.
