‘Resident Evil: Extinction’ Coming to Blu-ray on New Year’s Day; Trilogy Set Confirmed

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Resident Evil: Extinction, the third film in the ongoing video game adaption franchise, will be released January 1, 2008 on Blu-ray Disc. The studio has also confirmed a Resident Evil trilogy box set on Blu-ray will be available the same date in a similar foil packaging.

Resident Evil: Extinction will be the first Blu-ray Disc release from Sony to utilize true picture-in-picture functionality in Under The Umbrella. Also available is Blu-wizard 2.0 which learns special features viewed and saves them for quick access later, even after the player has been turned off. Profile 1.1 or final profile players will be required to take advantage of these features.
