Rayman Legends Trailer Leaks with Wii U Exclusives

Rayman Legends Trailer Leaks with Wii U ExclusivesHot on the heels of Nintendo’s first annual loss earnings report comes a leaked trailer for Rayman Legends that emphasizes the Wii U version of the upcoming game.

Rayman Legends uses the same art style of Rayman Origins which is sure to please fans of that game, myself included. As such, it is hard to differentiate between the two games in terms of graphical power. Though the gameplay footage in the trailer is running off a Wii U, nothing in it screams next generation and might as well have been running off an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Not that that’s a bad thing as the game still looks artistically beautiful.

Wii U’s new tablet controller has allowed Ubisoft to build in a few exclusives that the Xbox 360 and Playstation versions will be without. In one example during the trailer, four players are playing cooperatively and the player with the Wii U controller uses their finger to raise a platform so the others can pass. This player is essentially the leader and path clearer with the others following him or her.

In one of what I suspect will be multiple nods to Activision’s Skylanders his upcoming holiday season, Ubisoft is using the near field communication of the Wii U tablet to let players place a toy on the tablet and see said toy appear in the game. The first example in the trailer is a heart which literally makes hearts rain from the sky. Who wouldn’t want that for a health boost?

The next example is a Rabbid which floods the screen with the annoying creatures. If they’re enemies, why on earth would you want them in the game? There must be more to their appearance than meets the eye.

To close the trailer, an Ezio toy from Assassin’s Creed is about to be placed on the controller when it cuts short. Ezio running amok in a Rayman game sounds like a lot of fun, assuming he appears in the campaign and not just one of the mini-games.
