An Amazon.com PS4 bundle became the only guaranteed way to secure a new PS4 on launch day a few days ago after allotments at other retailers had all dried up. Somehow Amazon got more PS4 bundles in stock, and naturally they began selling at a rapid pace as soon as they were made available.
As with the first batch of PS4 launch day bundles at Amazon, the PS4 Watch Dogs bundle shot right to the top of Amazon’s video games bestsellers list. It has proven popular because the Ubisoft game looks like it will be a lot of fun, and the bundle doesn’t include any additional items which keeps the price at $460 instead of ballooning it up to $500 where the Xbox One pre-order is priced.
Within the past 24 hours the Amazon PS4 Watch Dogs bundle has sold out again. Will it return back into stock? It’s too early to tell. What we do know is that Sony could potentially unveil the PS4 release date in a couple weeks at Gamescom and that announcement could trigger another rush of buyers to try and secure a launch day console. We are still a solid three months or more away from the expected release date and mass marketing hasn’t even begun yet.
Just because the PS4 Watch Dogs bundle is out of stock doesn’t mean there’s no way to secure a launch day PS4. Still hanging around in Amazon’s bestsellers top 20 list is the PS4 Battlefield 4 Launch Day bundle priced at $499. This bundle featuring EA’s upcoming next-gen shooter not only includes the console and game, but a year’s worth of PS Plus at a $10 discount – a requirement for online multiplayer gameplay.
The other two PS4 Launch Day bundles are also still in stock at Amazon. They include the PS4 Killzone Launch Day bundle that like the Battlefield bundle includes a year of PS Plus and is priced at $499. The final bundle is the PS4 Knack Launch Day bundle priced at $459.
An alternative for PS4 adopters not as concerned with having one on launch day is the PS4 standard console pre-order for $399. Amazon is not guaranteeing when this will ship, but it is the best way to secure a PS4 without having to jump into a bundle commitment.
With the PS4 Watch Dogs bundle sold out, it looks like the next PS4 launch day bundle that will sell out is the PS4 Battlefield 4 Launch Day bundle. We should find out one way or the other over the next couple of weeks, especially by Gamescom when potentially new PS4 games will be announced and the hype train will gather more steam.
