The working name of Project Natal for Microsoft’s upcoming full body motion control and recognition accessory for Xbox 360 now has a commercial name. And that name is Kinect.
This evening in Los Angeles, Microsoft let over 200 of Canada’s Cirque Du Soleil performers and support staff introduce Kinect with a lavish aerial performance (that sadly I was invited to but unable to attend). The act was all about spectacle; the real juicy details won’t come until tomorrow morning at Microsoft’s E3 2010 Keynote Address.
If rumors ring true, Kinect will arrive in stores this October with a price of $150. In a little more than 12 hours we’ll know for certain.
