Over the weekend Sony released an official PlayStation 4 unboxing video that pulled its set straight out of a Daft Punk unboxing video for their latest album Random Access Memories.
The video starts with the camera moving down a room surrounded by computer equipment, toward a monitor at the far end. This appears to be the exact same set utilized by Daft Punk for the first Random Access Memories video that saw the French duo “unbox” the LP and play the first few seconds of the song ‘Give Life Back to Music.’ Perhaps Sony is looking to “give life back to gaming” with the introduction of PS4.
The reason Sony Computer Entertainment America was able to mimic the Daft Punk video for their own PS4 one is that Daft Punk is published by Columbia Music, which is a subsidiary of Sony Music. PlayStation and Daft Punk fall under the same corporate umbrella, though if you have a Random Access Memories CD and want to play it on PS4 starting this Friday, you won’t be able to as that feature is not enabled at launch.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 console releases this Friday, November 15. Good luck finding one in a store if you haven’t already pre-ordered.
