Shaun White stepped off the podium with his halfpipe snowboarding Gold Medal at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin and no sooner was signed by Ubisoft as the signature cover boy for a new future snowboarding franchise set for all gaming platforms including presumably Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
“I’m stoked to be working with Ubisoft to develop a video game that captures the thrill of snowboarding like no game has done before,” White said. “I’m a huge fan of Ubisoft games like Prince of Persia, so I’m excited to be able to combine what I love about snowboarding and gaming into an experience for everyone to enjoy.”
We can only surmise the game’s premise will compete directly with EA’s long-running and hugely successful SSX franchise; otherwise, why enter the snowboarding space with back-and-forth halfpipe gameplay? It may be awhile before we find out as the game isn’t due for release until sometime in 2007.
