Natalie Portman has directly been quoted as saying she will not appear in Joss Whedon and Marvel’s The Avengers movie that begins production next week.
Just three days ago, Chris Hemsworth was quoted by the Italian media as stating Portman would appear in The Avengers in some capacity. The pregnant actress, fresh off her Best Actress win at the Academy Awards last month, set the record straight in an interview with Today Online.
Portman says bluntly she will not appear in The Avengers, but is signed on to reprise her role as Jane in Thor 2 and Thor 3 should they be green lit. Marvel chief Kevin Feige has already publicly stated that sequels to Thor and Captain America are already in the works, with Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus already on board to write the latter.
In an analogy I’ve yet to hear regarding The Avengers, Portman calls it “like Ocean’s Eleven with the superhero all-stars!” Remember that when you watch The Avengers next May.
