After months of speculation, rumors and everything in between, this morning Nintendo will finally pull the cover back on the Wii U at a New York City event press conference. The best part is Nintendo is offering a free live stream of the event for all of us to watch.
What will the Wii U cost? Will there be bundles? What are the launch games? What will it come packaged with? Will Wii U be available for pre-order today? Will the GamePad be sold separately? What games will utilize the second GamePad? Did Nintendo keep a first-party game under wraps until now? These are some of the questions that we are hoping Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will address during the Wii U event.
The immediate future of Nintendo rides on the success of Wii U not only this holiday shopping season, where it is widely expected to sell out, but into the future when Microsoft and Sony will deliver their next-gen systems. With third parties on board coupled with the usual stable of first-party exclusives, the software future for Wii U is – on paper – brighter than any previously released Nintendo console to date.
