Nintendo has announced that the next installment of Nintendo Direct is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, June 11, the same day E3 officially begins at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
This new Nintendo Direct is designed to provide updates on future Wii U games. It is already known that Nintendo intends to reveal new 3D Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart, Mario Party and Super Smash Bros. games for Wii U at E3, so the assumption is that the world – including media – will get their first glimpse of these games direct from Nintendo themselves.
Nintendo’s approach to E3 this year has been to cut out some of the middle man, i.e. the media, and push their games directly to the consumer. This is evidenced by the lack of a large E3 press conference that has been replaced by an intimate software showcase with limited media in attendance, as well as Nintendo partnering with Best Buy to make some of the new demos for future Wii U games that will debut at E3 available to the public at the same time.
The Nintendo Direct: E3 edition is scheduled for 7am PST on June 11, about two hours earlier than their press conference would have kicked off at in year’s past.
