Nico Cortez “Tops the List” for Husker in Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome pilot showrunner David Eick raised the ire of franchise fans last month when he was quoted stating the casting process for Husker aka William Adama was underway and would be a “great opportunity for a young actor.” To many, including myself, the role of Husker was won back during the Razor BSG movie by Nico Cortez. The thought of Eick and Syfy looking elsewhere first was unsatisfactory.

Not content with Eick’s remarks, I contacted Syfy’s publicity department about Nico Cortez and was directed to an interview conducted last month with Mark Stern, Syfy’s executive vice president of original programming and the co-head of original content for Universal Cable Productions, at TV Squad. In the interview Stern said Nico was “great” in Razor and addressed the potential of him nabbing the role for Blood and Chrome with optimism, “I’m assuming there will be a full casting process for this pilot, but with Nico at the top of the list.”

There you have it, BSG faithful. Nico is still in the running for Husker in Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome so you can shelve your “fraks” for a little while yet.

Look for the first Blood and Chrome casting announcements to surface within the next couple months.
