Microsoft’s Molly O’Donnell recently took to a stage to demonstrate Project Natal (via All Things Digital), the new exclusive Xbox 360 motion control system that will be fully unveiled at E3 in a couple weeks and in stores later this year.
The demonstration begins with simple one-to-one gesturing that Natal interprets and reproduces on a monitor. It’s like looking at a digital stick figure version of yourself in a mirror, only there’s a slight split-second delay between your movements and what’s on the screen. Hopefully that will be ironed out by release or prove to be inconsequential when playing.
Next the demo introduces a handball game that is hard to make out but looks like a simple calorie burning exercise. The more sophisticated games – if there are any – are likely being held back for an E3 unveiling.
