To coincide with the possibility that the real Blackbeard’s sword may have been found in the wreckage of the Queen Anne’s Revenge off the coast of Beaufort, South Carolina, Disney has released a new image of Ian McShane portraying the legendary plunderer from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
The new Blackbeard image specifically depicts the pirate pointing his word just off-camera. While the remains of the sword found in the Atlantic may never be 100% confirmed to have been wielded by Blackbeard, the coincidental timing with its discovery and the return of Blackbeard to the big screen is just plain cool.
