This weekend families and movie geeks each have something to look forward to at the box office this weekend with newcomers Robert Rodriguez’ Predators and Universal’s CGI animated adventure Despicable Me now playing everywhere.
Both films are tracking strong at review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes with Predators at 71% fresh and Despicable Me at 81% fresh. The only other recent summer films up in that range are Toy Story 3, The Karate Kid, Get Him to the Greek and Cyrus.
I watched and reviewed Predators and Despicable Me earlier this week and came away satisfied from both. Predators is a solid enough reboot/sequel in the tradition of the original while Steve Carell steps up his game bringing laughs and sentiment to villainy in Despicable Me.
