New Captain America Trailer is Star Spangled Fun

Last night Marvel Studios released what is likely the final trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger. Like any good final trailer it’s easily the best yet.

What makes this Captain America: The First Avenger better than the others? For one there’s more of Hugo Weaving as Red Skull. Not much, as director Joe Johnston and his bosses seem intent on keeping much of the super villain a surprise for the theatrical release. But there are some additional shots that will make you want to see this guy in all his evil glory even more.

There’s more of the procedure that turns Steve Rogers into Captain America including what I’d consider a spoiler-filled conclusion to the event. Why didn’t Howard Stark and his fellow scientists and engineers start throwing more scrawny boys into the super soldier machine when Rogers was successfully transformed? This trailer answers that question.

The huge flying plane briefly seen in the previous trailers gets more exposure this time around, including multiple looks at a smaller plane in pursuit. This chase is likely in the film’s closing moments and the sequence should lead to Captain America’s destiny that will see him resurrected in modern times to join The Avengers.

Joining Chris Evans in this star spangled spectacle that I’m hoping turns out to be the most memorable comic book movie from this summer is Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson (likely in a limited capacity), Hayley Atwell and Toby Jones. Captain America: The First Avenger will sling his shield in theaters on July 22.
