New Blu-ray Pre-orders: A Nightmare Before Christmas and More

Amazon.com has added a number of new Blu-ray Disc pre-orders over the past week, including a pair of Paramount titles yet to be officially announced.

Our pick for the hottest new Blu-ray pre-order is Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas (Collector’s Edition) for $27.95, just revealed late last week for an August 26 bow.

From BBC Home Video comes Torchwood: Season One for $55.95 which has a strong cult following an ever larger curiosity base planning a first look with this set, myself included.

There are a total of six new Paramount Blu-ray pre-orders including all four of the Tom Clancy films for $20.95: Patriot Games, The Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears. To this date, Paramount has officially announced only The Sum of All Fears and Patriot Games. These pre-orders offer partial confirmation the entire set is coming on July 29, even if its been broken apart unlike how the Tom Clancy HD DVD box set was released.

The Paramount distributed Dreamworks animated films Madagascar and Shrek the Third have also gone up for pre-order, which each priced at $20.95. Both are slated for a September 16 release.

Also from Paramount/Dreamworks is Beowulf Director’s Cut for $27.95, due July 29.

From Warner Brothers/New Line comes Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (Special Edition) for $24.95. It’s due in stores July 29.

Rounding out the latest Blu-ray pre-orders at Amazon.com are the first batch of Blu-ray titles from Universal: The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King. Each will cost $20.95 and arrive July 22.
