‘NBA 07’ Coming to Playstation 3 Next Month?

I stumbled across an intriguing product listing while perusing through EBgames.com’s website his past weekend. Usually when new games appear on a retailer website we don’t pay attention as they could be based on stale or inaccurate information. The game features and cover artwork offered in this listing makes the prospect it’s real impossible to casually sweep under the mat.

The listing is for none other than ‘NBA 07’ for the Playstation 3, and pegs a release date of approximately one month from now to coincide with the console’s debut. Until now we haven’t heard a peep from Sony that this title was even in development, much less right around the corner. In fact, when I inquired about it this past summer, I was told the team was focused entirely on the Playstation 2 version which hit stores a few weeks ago.

The release date could be grossly out of whack, but specific new game features certainly weren’t conjured up by an overzealous EB employee. Both the cover art and feature listing push 1080p resolution. The recently named SIXAXIS wireless controller is mentioned along with uses for jukes, crossovers, spin moves and low-post moves. Weekly downloads for star performances from actual NBA games can be relived. And of course ubiquitous beads of sweat are part of a massive visual makeover to harness the PS3’s processing power.

We’re checking with Sony to either deny or corroborate EBgames.com’s information. Stay tuned.
