The Miley Cyrus comedy So Undercover has been picked up by The Weinstein Company for distribution in the United States. A release date has yet to be set.
In the film, Cyrus stars as a private investigator hired by the FBI to go undercover at a college sorority and protect the daughter a one-time mobster. To do so she’ll have to transform from a street-smart punk into a posh sophisticated co-ed which leads her to discover not everyone is as they appear on the surface.
The Weinstein Company COO David Glasser refers to So Undercover as proving Cyrus is a “deft comedic actress” in the press release that went out this morning. If he’s right, and that’s a pretty bold claim given Miley’s previous work on mostly adolescent-targeted projects, So Undercover could provide the role that helps her firmly plant her feet in adult features.
So Undercover is directed by Tom Vaughan and co-stars Jeremy Piven, Mike O’Malley, and Kelly Osbourne.
