Microsoft chooses 06.06.06 for major Xbox 360 interface upgrade

Starting today of all days, you’ll find a juicy new free system-wide upgrade available on Xbox Live that addresses many of the nagging issues we’ve all experienced with Live’s interface over the past half a year. In total there are 125 upgrades – some substantial and others only applicable to other countries.

Within Xbox Live Marketplace, you’ll now be able to queue up to 6 downloads at a time and, more importantly, go do something else while they’re downloading. Previously once a downloaded initiated, you either had to sit and watch its slow progress or leave the room. Other notable Marketplace enhancements include full remote compatibility for videos and a new visual interface.

Another new feature that will make movie watchers smile is the ability to bookmark a DVD when it’s stopped, put in a game to play, then return to the DVD at the exact moment you left. How long the bookmark lasts or whether the first is erased when a second movie is played was not disclosed.

For the full list of 125 upgrades, head on over to the official Microsoft Xbox 360 website.
