Before appearing in The Twilight Saga: New Moon in November, Michael Sheen will portray football manager Brian Clough in The Damn United for Sony Pictures Classics. Co-starring are Jim Broadbent, Timothy Spall, Colm Meaney and Henry Goodman.
The Damn United chronicles Clough’s outspoken approach and the trouble it got him in when he took over the Leeds United football club, the reigning 1974 champions.
For scribe Peter Morgan, The Damn United is the third film in which he’s catered to Sheen for a starring role. Previously the writer and actor collaborated on The Queen and Frost/Nixon.
