Michael Fassbender up for X-Men: First Class and Spider-Man Role

Most actors would kill for the opportunity to be pursued for one big Marvel movie let alone two. Michael Fassbender, who last year appeared in Inglourious Basterds and will soon be back on the big screen in Jonah Hex, has found himself in this quandary.

Showbiz 411 is reporting that Sony Pictures is courting Fassbender to star as the villain in the upcoming Marc Webb Spider-Man reboot film . They also report Fox wants him to play a young Magneto in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class opposite James McAvoy whom has already been cast to play young Charles Xavier.

Fassbender has a tough choice to make here, assuming he accepts either of the roles. On one hand playing Magneto could lead to one or two sequel opportunities should First Class prove a hit. On the other, Spider-Man has proven the bigger franchise and could theoretically be the stronger springboard to Fassbender’s stardom.

Which one would you use? I kind of lean towards the Magneto role. He’s simply too cool a character to turn up.
