Metroid Prime Trilogy Headed to Wii

Continuing their practice of digging into the Gamecube archive for Wii makeover candidates, Nintendo has announced all three currently available Metroid Prime games will be bundled into the Metroid Prime Trilogy and be available exclusively on Nintendo Wii.

Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes have been overhauled with Wii’s motion controls that are now identical to those included with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Samus Aran’s story from start to finish (as far as these three games are concerned) will now be a seamless Wii-ified experience.

A new unlockables system designed for the trilogy will allow access to trivial in-game rewards such as music, artwork and more based on achievements reached while playing any of the three games.

The expanded capacity of Wii’s discs versus Gamecube is allowing Nintendo to pack the entire Metroid Prime Trilogy onto a single disc. The main menu will include access to any of the three games from a single jump point.

The release date for Metroid Prime Trilogy will be August 24 with retail pricing set at $49.99.
