The first trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides set sail this afternoon with Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz flirting and bickering their way toward the fabled fountain of youth.
If you’re looking for huge visual effects that where in At World’s End you won’t find them in this trailer. Much of the two-and-a-half minute first look is dialogue and practical stunt-driven rather then sea monsters, living beards or skeleton armies. There are mermaids, many to be exact, but the only real look you get is the same as their prey.
Co-starring with Depp and Cruz in Pirates of the Caribbean 4 are Ian McShane as Blackbeard and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. The sequel sets sail in 2D and 3D on May 20, 2011.
