Electronic Arts has announced that the Mass Effect Trilogy, a single package compilation, will be released on November 6 for Xbox 360 and the PC. The collection is also due on the PS3 shortly thereafter, making it the first time that the original Mass Effect would be available on Sony’s game system.
After Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 were both announced as multi-system, Microsoft vehemently stated that the original Mass Effect would “always be an Xbox exclusive.” I guess EA and BioWare begged to differ. To further push the point, BioWare will also offer the original Mass Effect as a stand-alone download to the PlayStation Network. Regardless, the exclusivity of Mass Effect appears to be over.
One place the Mass Effect Trilogy won’t be coming, at least not this year, is Wii U. Though Nintendo’s new high definition gaming console is getting Mass Effect 3 during its launch window, the Mass Effect Trilogy for Wii U was not part of EA’s announcement.
Also on the way is a PS3 exclusive Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Trilogy, at least excvlusive for the time being. The Ezio Trilogy begins with Assassin’s Creed II, and includes Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and last fall’s Assassin’s Creed Revelations. The Ezio Trilogy collection will also include all DLC from each game.
Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Trilogy sneaks its way onto PS3 on November 14 for $39.99.
