Mario & Sonic aren’t quite done competing against one another as news of Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games dropped this morning during the latest Nintendo Direct video to consumers.
As with past games in the Mario & Sonic franchise, characters from Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. and SEGA’s Sonic The Hedgehog will come together to compete in a variety of events based on the Olympic Games – in this case the Winter Games. Confirmed events that will appear include curling, skiing, figure skating pairs and snowboard slopestyle, the latter of which makes its Olympic debut in Sochi, Russia.
Complimenting the realistic events based on the Winter Olympics will be physically impossible events set within the worlds of Mario and Sonic. We will learn more about those specific events at a later date.
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is coming to Wii U in 2014. A 3DS version has not been announced, though I’d be surprised if one didn’t eventually materialize.
