Ludlum’s The Sigma Protocol Moving Ahead at Universal

Variety is reporting Universal is moving forward to adapt Robert Ludlum’s final novel, The Sigma Protocol, for the big screen.

After the success of Ludlum’s Jason Bourne novels turned films I’m frankly surprised it took Universal this long to make a move after having several drafts on the table. Maybe they were waiting for Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway’s schedules to free up, as both have been tapped to pen The Sigma Protocol based on their earlier draft.

The Sigma Protocol is centered around a young investment banker who stumbles upon a secret and dangerous organization using inside resources to manipulate and control the global economy. When the banker tries to blow the whistle, the hunt for his head on a platter ensues.

Other Ludlum works expected to receive a theatrical treatment include The Chancellor Manuscript to potentially star Leonardo DiCaprio, and The Matarese Circle with Denzel Washington pegged to star.
