After our recent disappointment with the flimsy lackluster packaging Universal disgraced the Battlestar Galactica: Season One HD DVD set with, we were a bit nervous about how Buena Vista Home Entertainment would handle packaging for their first TV on Blu-ray Disc release, Lost: Season Three.
The mailman, already feeling a bit stressed from the holiday rush, just dropped off our copy. And wouldn’t you know it; this packaging is first rate from top to bottom.
A roughly inch-wide jewel case housing the sticks on sturdy plastic prongs is itself housed inside of a thick, sturdy hard cardboard outer box. The box opens like a book with a Velcro snap holding the flap to the main package together. Once opened, the jewel case easily slides out. So you have the choice to display the season as a jewel case to match your single-disc sets, or in the thicker packaging for a more robust look. Call it a two-fer-one Blu-ray treat.
We’re going to dive into this set immediately and hope to have a review up in the next day or two. Lost: Season Three on Blu-ray Disc arrives in stores on Tuesday, December 11.
