Kenneth Branagh Negotiating to Helm Thor

Kenneth Branagh is currently in negotiations to helm Marvel’s third feature-length film, Thor, already set for release in 2010.

If signed, Branagh will follow in the footsteps of Iron Man director Jon Favreau, also plucked from the indie scene, as someone with no previous big budget action and special effects experience brought on board to steer a potential summer tentpole franchise.

The Thor screenplay has already been written by Mark Protosevich and should go before cameras in 2009. In the story derived from the comics, disabled medical student Donald Blake has an alter-ego as Norse god Thor.

Our pick to fill Thor’s shoes is none other than Brad Pitt who proved he can look and act the part of a god-like bad ass in Troy.
