John Carter Blu-ray 3D Pre-Orders Live at Amazon; Cover Art Revealed

John Carter Blu-ray 3D Pre-Orders Live at AmazonDisney’s John Carter starring Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins may find a second wind on Blu-ray and DVD if pre-release buzz at Amazon.com is to be believed.

In a matter of hours, the four-disc Blu-ray 3D combo pack version of John Carter went up for pre-order and shot up to the number one spot on Amazon’s Blu-ray bestsellers chart. This type of immediate sales dominance is usually reserved for the Star Wars, Twilight and Indiana Jones films of the world. In this instance, there’s a lot of interest for the well-reviewed but poor box office performer that cost Disney roughly $200 million in write-offs.

The John Carter Blu-ray 3D combo pack will include the 2D Blu-ray version, the DVD version, and a digital copy. A Blu-ray and DVD combo pack version will also be available. I also have it on good authority to expect both Blu-ray releases to include making-of materials, bloopers and deleted scenes, the history of John Carter dating back to Edgar Rice Burroughs’s original story, a second-screen feature, and an audio commentary that may or may not include director Andrew Stanton.

The John Carter Blu-ray release date will not be announced until well in April. Expect John Carter to make its home video debut in either June or July.
