Paramount has decided on June 10, 2011 as the day to release J.J. Abrams’ mysterious Super 8 in theaters nationwide.
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in Universal’s Fast Five aka Fast and Furious 5 will face off against Super 8 at the box office. That weekend should prove to be profitable for both Paramount and Universal.
Super 8 is said to be an Abrams’ tribute to Steven Spielberg and, per the teaser trailer, follows some sort of creature or alien that escapes from a train. It is currently in production and stars Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Noah Emmerich, Zach Mills, Joel Courtney, Gabriel Basso, AJ Michalka, Riley Griffiths, Ron Eldard and Ryan Lee.
