James Cameron Gunning in New Avatar Image

Empire Online has offered another new picture from James Cameron’s Avatar that, like just about every previous image, is a behind-the-scenes shot with the director front and center.

This time around Cameron is checking out a massive mounted gun on the side of a gunship. It brings back memories of Aliens, doesn’t it?

The image is part of a bigger story that will appear in the September print edition of Empire. “It’s a movie about bullies,” star Sam Worthington offers in the article. “The humans have come to tear into the Na’vi planet and strip-mine it. We’re telling a story that’s relevant now. It’s filled wtih typical James Cameron messages, especially technology overrunning us all, which is what nearly all his movies are about.”

Remember, August 21 is “Avatar Day” when the trailer will be released online and the extensive presentation shown during Comic-Con will play in selective 3D and IMAX screens. Which screens remains a mystery.
