Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is in a world of hurt in a newly released bus shelter poster / transit sign for Marvel and Shane Black’s Iron Man 3. The new poster, along with a preview of the upcoming Iron Man 3 Super Bowl spot, arrived in our inbox from Disney last night.
The Super Bowl spot teaser is a bit of a letdown in that most of the 10 or so seconds shown are scenes we’ve already seen from the previously released trailers. There’s a new shot of Rhodey in his War Machine / Iron Patriot suit with the faceplate up. There’s also yet another look at Tony’s mansion getting blown to bits by heavily armored helicopters.
I like the bus shelter poster much more as it depicts Iron Man falling from a very high altitude, his suit heavily damaged and on fire in multiple spots. Stark has clearly taken a beating at the hands of someone(s) or something(s). It will be interesting to see what the Mandarin concocts to go toe-to-toe with Iron Man and emerge victorious, at least once.
Why Iron Man’s helmet is nowhere to be seen is a bit curious, unless the image was composited that way so Downey Jr.’s face would be visible for marketing purposes. I think it would be sweet if it gets blown completely off during battle.
