On Thursday Sony Computer Entertainment teased an “electrifying” announcement was coming this upcoming Monday. The use of that word as a descriptor attaches the news to Infamous but otherwise no one had an inkling of what to expect.
Not even a day later the fine sales folks at Best Buy were kind enough to put out an Infamous pre-order box they probably weren’t supposed to yet. On that box, which a snapped image of appeared at Kotaku, is information about gaining access to the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer demo this May.
This is huge news for Sony for a number of reasons. First, no one expected there to be a multiplayer mode on Uncharted 2, much less for it to be playable in just over a month. Does that mean the game will ship in early fall versus closer to Christmas? Second, making this mode accessible via pre-ordering Infamous could provide a huge sales boost to Sony’s next big – or at least they want it to be big – exclusive PS3 game.
The bottom line is if you pre-order Infamous for PS3 you will gain access to the Infamous demo between May 8 and May 20. You will also gain access to the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer beta set to run between June 3 and June 26.
Information pertaining to specifics about the Uncharted 2 multiplayer demo may or may not come out with Sony’s promotion news tomorrow. Cross your fingers and get those Infamous pre-orders in before it launches on May 26.
