After being available overseas on home video since mid-last year, Lionsgate cleared legal hurdles to bring the dark comedy I Love You Phillip Morris starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor stateside in theaters in December. After a short theatrical run, it will be making its way to Blu-ray and DVD on April 5.
The film is based on the true story of a con-man who escapes from prison four times to impress his gay lover. Carrey’s performance is being heralded as Oscar-worthy though we don’t know yet if he’ll score a nomination.
Bonus features on the Blu-ray and DVD version of I Love You Phillip Morris will include a making-of featurette and audio commentary with the writers/directors and producer.
