Dreamworks chose the week of How to Train Your Dragon’s Blu-ray and DVD release as the optimal time to announce a sequel is in the works and will fly into theaters sometime in 2013.
The original film’s voice cast including Jay Baruchel, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, TJ Miller and Kristen Wiig are all on board for the sequel. Cressida Cowell’s books will once again serve as the inspiration for screenwriter Dean DeBlois and the returning creative team that also features Chris Sanders and Bonnie Arnold.
As with the original film, How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be released in 2D and 3D versions.
