The Dark Knight Rises has sparked an extra dose of creativity over at high-end toy creators Hot Toys. Their 1/6 scale figures based on the final Christopher Nolan film are selling like hotcakes before many of them are even available.
To help promote their overall Batman line of 1/6 scale figures, Hot Toys has commissioned a short stop-motion film titled “Batman: Dark Knightfall” loosely based on Nolan’s films. It begins with a concept Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) figure taking on and being defeated by The Joker’s thugs. Pinned down, Gordon then sees Batman (Christian Bale) appear to save the day using his collection of “wonderful toys.”
The next act sees Nolan’s Joker (Heath Ledger) show up to take on and defeat the Batman. After a few twists and turns, the Michael Keaton Batman and Jack Nicholson Joker make an appearance, followed by the unproduced (as of now) massive The Bat vehicle taking on Bane’s (Tom Hardy) camouflaged Tumbler.
Bane eventually emerges from the Tumbler to take on Batman mano-a-mano. This finale is the best choreographed sequence of the short and ends with an explosive series of unexpected twists.
