Hot Toys has unveiled the 1:6 scale Iron Man Mark XLII die cast figure based on the character’s appearance in Iron Man 3 early next month, and Sideshow Collectibles has begun taking pre-orders. The figure marks the second entry in the 1:6 scale Hot Toys die cast line, the first being Iron Patriot.
Like Iron Patriot, the Iron Man Mark XLII die cast figure includes an alternate head featuring the likeness of the character’s actor, in this case Robert Downey Jr., inside the mask. Unlike Iron Patriot, this new mostly gold Iron Man’s alternate head is battle damaged as seen in the various trailers and TV spots for Iron Man 3.
In addition, the Iron Man Mark XLII die cast figure also includes a helmeted head with light-up eyes, light-up arc reactor in chest, one pair of damaged shoulder armor, one damaged chest armor, one damaged biceps armor, one pair of damaged forearm armor, three pairs of interchangeable palms (improved articulation, movable fingers and light-up repulsors; forceful fists; and battle palms with light-up repulsor), improved articulation on waist armor, deployable air flaps on armor rear, and a stand with nameplate.
Approximately 40 percent of the figure is expected to be die cast which will add some heft to it. The die cast also adds to the price which clocks in at $309.99 and is considered a limited edition. Delivery of the figure is expected in February 2014.
