Half-Life 2 coming to next-gen consoles

Today at EA’s Summer Showcase 06, EA and Valve jointly announced “Half-Life 2” will be simultaneously released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. The package will include both Half-Life 2 additional episodes and the cartoonish expansion “Team Fortress 2” and “Portal,” a new single-player game set within the Half-Life universe.

What makes “Portal” special is it incorporates a new gun that opens up “Prey”-type portals wherever it’s aimed. The portals can be used for a variety of tactics including throwing enemies through them and creating one next to an enemy for them to fall into. Imagine the possibilities.

This surefire best-seller package will debut this Fall, and perhaps as a launch title for Playstation 3 – though no specific mention of a date has been made.
