Guardians of the Galaxy Gets New Images Just Ahead of Trailer Premiere

Guardians of the Galaxy Gets New Images Just Ahead of Trailer PremiereDisney and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is about to officially go truly public in the form of the first trailer via Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night. Before the big trailer drop, a trio of all-new images are ready to view now and feature a captain, his motley crew, and one sleek spaceship.

The three Guardians of the Galaxy stills first appeared at USA Today and depict the unlikely allegiance of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), aka Star-Lord; Gamora (Zoe Saldana); Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista); Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). The latter two are obviously aliens who will be completely computer-generated and garner the most attention, especially the heavily armed raccoon.

This group meets one another at the space prison Kyln where they escape and venture to Knowhere, described as “the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens.” Sounds a little bit like the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars, only far more over the top.

It will be revealed that Quill is in possession of an orb with the power to destroy the galaxy that several shadowy figures are after, including the Collector (Benicio Del Toro), seen in the mid-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World; Ronan (Lee Pace); and Nebula (Karen Gillan). Quill was taken from earth as a nine-year old and now pilots the Milano, the equivalent of the Millennium Falcon in the film, though probably a lot more reliable.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy footage debuted at San Diego Comic-Con in summer 2013 less than two weeks after shooting began. No new footage has been seen publicly to date, though the trailer debuting tomorrow night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! was shown to media and industry insiders at Toy Fair earlier today.

You can catch the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! at 11:35pm EST on ABC tomorrow night with an introduction and commentary by guest Chris Pratt. Once it premieres over the air, the trailer will be available on YouTube and quickly embedded throughout the Internet.

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and arrives in theaters on August 1.
