Gordon Levitt’s The Dark Knight Rises Role Revealed

Gordon Levitt's The Dark Knight Rises Role RevealedVariety has followed up their Friday evening report confirming Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s involvement in The Dark Knight Rises with the role he’ll be playing in the trilogy-closing sequel.

Multiple sources close to The Dark Knight Rises production, which may or may not be the same ones that tipped Variety to Gordon-Levitt’s involvement, have informed Variety that he’ll assume the role of Alberto Falcone. If the name Falcone sounds familiar, it should. He’s the estranged son of mafia kingpin Carmine Falcone who appeared in Batman Begins and was played by Tom Wilkinson.

In the Batman comics, Alberto goes on a serial killing spree against Gotham criminals and members of his father’s organization. In doing so he earns the nickname “The Holiday Killer” though no one would know Alberto was responsible for the killings until after he is caught my Batman. Though Alberto ends up in Arkham Asylum, he feels he’s achieved his goal of becoming more notorious than this morally challenged father.

An anonymous tipster at CBM first reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would portray Alberto in The Dark Knight Rises back in early February before Gordon-Levitt was even signed for the role. Of all the wild and crazy rumors floating around regarding Gordon-Levitt’s role, this is the sole source that appears to have been correct.

Despite Variety’s report, Warner Bros. nor director Christopher Nolan have confirmed nor denied Gordon-Levitt’s involvement much less his role. Hopefully they’ll take the same approach with Bane and Catwoman and issue a press release.
