Actress Rue McClanahan died early this morning after suffering from a massive stroke, her second stroke since late last year. She was 76.
McClanahan is best known for playing sexually promiscuous Blanche Devereaux alongside Beatrice Arthur, Betty White and Estelle Getty on NBC’s The Golden Girls which ran from 1985-92. A one year stint on spin-off The Golden Palace immediately afterward only lasted a single season.
Golden Girls Beatrice Arthur and Estelle Getty passed away in 2009 and 2008, respectively.
