The first Godzilla trailer got us pumped up on belief without a single clear shot of the giant monster. The new Godzilla international trailer isn’t quite as good, but it does offer some new shots and lots of atmosphere.
You’ll recognize the swath of destruction that Godzilla, and likely at least two other monsters, have carved across the planet from the first trailer. There are some new shots to show the extent of the damage, as well as a quick look at the tsunami flood that accompanies Godzilla when he makes landfall.
Leads Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen all get a few moments in the trailer, but it’s a shot of the big guy illuminated by lightning flashes and his spine appearing in the reflection of a school bus window that really gets the blood pumping.
Godzilla is directed by Gareth Edward and will crush theaters on May 16.
